Unique and forward-looking

Drawing from degrees in economics, biology, neuroscience and neurocoaching and experience from science and invention to entrepreneurship, a talk by Dr. Bäcker is an experience not to be missed.

In 2020, Dr. Bäcker wrote a series that called the 2020 US Elections in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania days before any news outlet.

That same year, he published a series of papers that were the first to show evidence for the role sunlight and vitamin D play in preventing COVID-19, a result that has now been cited and endorsed by hundreds of scientists and physicians including a former US Surgeon General.

He predicted UK Prime Minister Theresa May’s ouster to the month five months before it happened.

During the Black Lives Matter movement, he wrote a paper on Reinventing Police that led to a collaboration with the chief of a leading police department for a major city.

Award-winning

Dr. Bäcker has been recognized by the International Business Awards, the inaugural 40 Under 40 M&A Advisor Recognition Awards, the American Business Awards, and for ‘great contributions and outstanding qualities of Leadership and Responsibility’ by the California Institute of Technology.

Alex founded a business based on the most annoying moments in our lives: waiting queues. His passion to eliminate waiting queues lead to a solution that can be implemented in various domains from waiting in a shop to waiting trucks in container terminals.
I love to work with this type of entrepreneurs. They turn problems into solutions.

Alex is a true visionary, a brilliant innovator, and an inspiring leader. Our time working together was too brief, but I’m grateful that I had the opportunity.

Alex is one of the most charismatic intellectuals I have encountered in any industry. He is much more approachable than other prolific researchers of his caliber, and I was glad of having the opportunity to learn his perspective on search-engine-marketing.

Jeffery Chin

Thank you, Alex, for inventing QLess. My team adopted it 18 months ago for our institution and it’s totally transformed the student experience. Our students have thanked us for ending endless waiting in lines!

Erin L. Richman, Ph.D., MBA

Sr. Director, Student Learning & Academic Initiatives, University of North Florida

Alex masterfully built a thriving business from an idea most would assume is an impossible problem to solve; eliminating waiting in line from the face of the earth. I personally had the pleasure of working under him the last four years of his twelve year tenure at QLess and always observed a highly analytical, passionate, yet thoughtful leader. In his role as CEO he was not only the mind, but also the spirit of our growing company. To appreciate his enduring value to our mission, one has to understand that our success requires we convince brick and mortar businesses to replace proven, physical workflows with unfamiliar, virtual ones. Unlike organizations built on social whims, ours must achieve the highest objective standards for performance while ensuring our customers’ own missions aren’t jeopardized. Alex often served as the voice of analytical reason to prove our quantitative value while offering reassuring encouragement during merchants’ initial, uncertain steps along a better path. Since its inception, QLess has saved over 100 million people in excess of 8,000 years of time waiting in line. Few business leaders can boast of a greater impact to the personal lives of the people they serve.
